Consecrate Prayer Guide — Day 5

Follow Jesus Into Spiritual Readiness

What is Fasting?
Fasting is abstaining from food in order to draw near to God in desperation and delight. This is an invitation — not a requirement — to fast however the Lord invites you.
Many of us will fast each day until after the prayer gathering. Some will fast one meal a day. Others will fast multiple days at a time. The call is not to fit into a structure, but to seek the Lord and listen for the Spirit on what fasting should look like for you.

We believe that God will speak to you — so seek His face.

Matthew 4:1-2
Kingdom City, many of you know that we have been walking through a season of intense spiritual warfare. The enemy does not attack what is irrelevant. He does not waste his efforts. The pressure many of us are feeling is, in part, a sign that God is doing something significant among us.

In Matthew 4, we find Jesus — before He performs a single miracle, before He calls a single disciple, before He preaches a single sermon — fasting in the wilderness. For forty days. And it is there, in that hungry and vulnerable place, that He faces the full force of the enemy's assault. And it is there that He overcomes.

Fasting was not incidental to Jesus' ministry. It was preparatory. It was a form of training. He was not weakened by the fast — He was sharpened. The discipline of fasting positioned Jesus to resist temptation, to stand on the Word of God, and to step into His ministry from a place of spiritual authority rather than a spiritual deficit.

We follow in that same path today. We fast not because we are afraid, but because we want to be ready. Ready to push back darkness. Ready to proclaim the good news of the Kingdom with power and clarity. Ready to stand firm when the enemy presses in.

This is preparation. This is training. And the God who strengthened Jesus in the wilderness will strengthen you.
A Prayer For Spiritual Readiness:
Father,
We know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood.
We feel the weight of spiritual warfare in our community, in our homes, in ourselves.
We fast today in imitation of Jesus —
not to earn power, but to position ourselves to receive it.
Sharpen us. Strengthen us. Fill us with Your Spirit.
Make us ready for all that You are calling us into.
The enemy has no authority over what You have anointed. Amen.
Breath Prayer for the Day:
When the warfare feels heavy today, pray this:

Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.
